Summary

I have spent a long time doing research for the project. My original plan was to use a video material for LOGO opening; I later upgraded to use AE software for the animation design because I lacked a high-definition camera as well as sufficient time. During the process I encountered a series of problems. The first came problem occurred when the Particular Effect plug-in was lost on my school’s Mac. Later, I figured out it was because school’s computers were missing the plug-in. The tutor told me later that as long as the video can be exported, everything would be fine. The second problem was the loss of my first draft of the work due to hardware failure. After an emergency repair, I was finally able to retrieve the file. The third challenge held a technical aspect: in the production of the flapping effect of the butterflies’ wings, I input a code in the timeline that connects and controls the timing of the flapping. However, sometimes the wings did not flap swing consistently. Through hard working I realized the problem appeared based on the same movement on the x- and y-axis, which should be divided with different equations. Apart from the above problems, actualizing the required effects within 20 seconds based on AE software was also a great challenge. As written in the official regulation of the project, I flexibly combined my skills with accessible resource to create the final design. This project places great emphasis on participants’ creativity and imagination according to the theme. I will use Web 2.0 to upload the project on to the internet to share this technique with other users, as well as share my experience using it. The project’s audience is targeted at every computer-user and those who are interested in animation.
